Every day, we bring you the best in NASCAR news and opinion. Get your day rolling right ... or left, whichever.
• Kevin Harvick had a promising run at Iowa's Nationwide track cut short by equipment failure. Story of his year. (Aside: the sandwich company "Jimmy Johns" sponsors Harvick's No. 33 Chevy. I don't really need to say it, do I? Jimmy Johns simply has to start sponsoring the 48 car sometime.) [Catchfence]
• "Grand Prix of Alabama" sounds like some kind of ridiculous joke, like "Alabama Shakespeare Festival," but it's coming -- Indy cars will be running in Birmingham in just a few weeks. Will Alabama be ready for it? (And btw, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival is exceptional.) [Huntsville Times]
• Life on the other side of the garage. It's not all catered meals and shiatsu massages for some NASCAR drivers. [NASCAR Insiders]
• The rain deprived us of what would surely have been an exceptional create-a-caption opportunity, as Jimmie Johnson had to cancel his planned trip to Washington to meet with President Obama. On the plus side, it gives the White House time to restock the fridge after last week's Beer Summit. [Nuts n' Bolts]
• For those of you interested in watching TV networks tread water, here's a breakdown of how the various networks and personalities handled the rain delay at Pocono. [The Daly Planet]
