At long last, it's happened. After waiting a year and a half for somebody to step up and stick it to Kyle Busch, our prayers have been answered. We thought it would be Junior, but no such luck. No, it's looking like Brian Vickers is here to represent the Anti-Kyle Nation, sticking it to Busch with every bit as much wit and venom as Mr. Busch himself.
The latest exhibit: Friday morning's press conference at Bristol, where B-Vick held court on Kyle's state of mind, his upbringing, and his standing in and around NASCAR:
A few choice quotes:
"I don't know if you want to call it ‘strike-one' or ‘strike-two,' but either way he's (Kyle Busch) out of strikes."
"In a lot of ways I feel sorry for him. I hate that he lives in such an angry place. To be so mad about something so small - it must be miserable to live like that. That's just not the way I live my life. I'm very blessed to have great parents that raised me to be a very different person."
"I'm willing to race him hard and clean and move on down the road and if he's not willing to do that then I'm willing to take whatever path he chooses. I'm going to race him the way he races me - he knows that and he's been aware of that for a very long time and that's not going to change."
Beautiful! I bear no ill will toward Kyle, but I gotta tell you -- it's great seeing somebody step up to him and not just try to "ignore" him. Think there'll be a little tangling this week at Bristol?
