Sizing up the scariest wrecks of the 2009 season

For a year that's had its slow patches, 2009 has certainly had its share of hyperviolent wrecks. Monday at Watkins Glen added another to this dubious row. They've included some of NASCAR's greatest drivers, but fortunately, they've caused no lasting injury. Check out the contenders below, and at the end of it all, you'll have the opportunity to decide the scariest wreck of 2009 (so far).

Watkins Glen has had its share of brutal, even fatal wrecks; cars have a tendency to carom off the walls in strange directions and pop right back onto the track. Monday afternoon's race was no exception; Kasey Kahne bumped Sam Hornish Jr., who proceeded to absolutely demolish Jeff Gordon's car:

Man. That's the kind of wreck that'll make someone start thinking about a higher power. And that view from Jeff Gordon's car -- that gives you an idea of how fast these guys are going and how little time they have to react. Good thing that all that got harmed in this wreck was some sheet metal.

And now, its challengers for worst wreck of the year to date:

First off, in Daytona last month, Kyle Busch cut Tony Stewart off, then declared his independence from the rules of gravity:

Next up, Brad Keselowski sends Carl Edwards into -- and very nearly through -- the wall at Talladega:

And finally, we have Matt Kenseth's infield fly-by, also at Talladega. This one didn't involve anybody else, but man, was this close to being a nightmare:

Wow. So there you have it. Four crashes, four big names, zero fatalities. So which was the scariest? Have your say now!
