Richmond may not have been one of the best races of the year, but it certainly was one of the most intense. With half a dozen drivers scrabbling for four Chase spots, literally every single lap had meaning and import. And while Kyle Busch had to finish just four spots ahead of Brian Vickers to get into the Chase, he couldn't close the deal, and one of the year's winningest drivers ended up on the outside looking in. Oh yeah, and Denny Hamlin ended up winning, too, for what that's worth:
So there you go. Brian Vickers is in the Chase, and you've got to figure he's going to be problematic for the big guns to deal with. Denny Hamlin enters with tremendous momentum -- think about it, he and his crew specifically targeted this race to win, and then went out and did it. That's pretty impressive, and something that ought to concern Stewart-Johnson-Gordon.
Oh, and Kyle's not out of the picture yet, either; you really think he's comfortable sitting back and letting someone else take the limelight? It'll be a fine Chase, perhaps the best ever ... and it all gets rolling this week.
