I felt like our car was definitely a top-10 car, maybe a top-five car at times in the race," said Earnhardt, who started 31st in the No. 88 Chevrolet. "I sped on pit road, came in a little hot there trying too hard. And then the flat tire caution from (Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jeff Gordon) caught us on pit road.
"But we were just steady, steady, steady, ran smart and tried to stay out of trouble. A lot of guys made mistakes, which was kind of surprising, but we were able to capitalize. We beat some good cars which were damaged or off the pace."
