Biffle not satisfied with season's first half

Greg Biffle's performance has improved greatly over last season when he failed to qualify for what is now known as the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

That doesn't mean the Roush Fenway Racing driver is satisfied, however.

Despite being eighth in the Cup standings and in Chase contention with nine races left before the end of NASCAR's regular season, Biffle isn't completely thrilled with the first half of his season -- which will officially reach its midway point following Saturday night's Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway.

"I'm not going to give myself that high of a grade," said Biffle, who recently signed a contract extension to remain at Roush Fenway through the 2011 season. "I've made some mistakes the last four races -- or we have as a group, I guess. It's been both sides, and we've given up probably 125 points, just in those finishes. It was unfortunate, but I think we've done decent."

After second- and third-place finishes at Charlotte and Dover, Biffle has placed no better than 11th in his last four outings.

Even on some of his better days, pit-road miscues -- from loose wheels to speeding penalties -- have prevented Biffle from being higher in points and possibly cost him more than one win.

"We're eighth in points [and] we keep bobbing back and forth between seventh and ninth," said Biffle, who finished 21st at New Hampshire on Sunday. "We want to run a little better than what we've been running -- we're actually running better than we're finishing. [That's been] the problem, except for Loudon. We were off for Loudon, the whole organization. We're going to work hard on that before we go back."

As for Biffle's chances of a good finish Saturday night, the driver is confident -- assuming he can stay out of trouble.

Biffle won this race in 2003 and believes he has a solid car for this weekend.

"You either miss the wreck or you don't," he said. "... We were running third in the Daytona 500, not this last year but a year ago, and didn't make it to the checkered flag. Coming off of Turn 4, we could see it, but couldn't get there. That's unfortunate that stuff happens around you, and unfortunately, you get in it."
